Sheva delighted with AC Milan opener

AC Milan striker Andriy Shevchenko was delighted yesterday after scoring his first goal, in his second spell at the club.

Sheva scored the only goal of the match against FC Zurich last night as the Rossoneri won 4-1 on aggregate against the Swiss side.

“I’m happy that I finally managed to score,” Shevchenko said.

“I want to thank the fans for supporting me, even when I made a mistake at the beginning of the match today.”

He continued: “I have always supported my teammates and tried hard on the pitch,

“It seemed like something was always stopping me from scoring but the goal finally came and it’s a great step forward for me.

“There’s plenty of work still to do, but this is an important goal for me.”
