Shevchenko weighing up future

Dyanmo Kiev striker Andriy Shevchenko has admitted he is considering retiring from football completely.

The 35-year-old Ukrainian, who announced his retirement from international football last week, revealed he has received offers from his current club, where his contract expires in July, and from various outfits all around the world.

He also hinted that he his future may lie in the dugout once he hangs up his boots, and insisted he will always be involved in football in some capacity.

“I will spend some time talking with my family to decide what I want to do,” he told reporters.

“I have offers from clubs abroad and from Dynamo Kiev. I will maybe have a couple more years of playing football or maybe stop and become a coach.

“We will see what happens, but I want to stay in football because I love this game.”

He also praised his homeland’s hosting of Euro 2012, and said he was glad his countrymen had disproved the accusations of racism and violence levelled at the Ukrainian people in the build-up to the tournament.

“It is normal when you don’t know a country that there can be a lot of bad press, but now I hope everything will change and English people will come and visit the Ukraine,” he said.

“I am very proud of my country and that they hosted the European Championship. I think the country did a great job.”

Shevchenko also played for AC Milan and Chelsea during his time in football, and scored 48 goals for his country in 111 appearances.
