Siena will search for a new head coach. The Bianconeri have sacked Marco Giampaolo. The decision was taken following seven defeats in 10 games, leaving the Bianconeri rock bottom of Serie A after losing 2-1 away to the Rossoblu on Wednesday night.

The club released an official statement on their website:

“AC Siena communicates that Marco Giampaolo and his staff have been sacked. The club would like to thank the coach and his assistants for the work and professionalism they have shown. We wish them every success in future.
The team has been left in the hands of Marco Baroni who will take today’s training session.”

It is said that youth team coach Marco Baroni will take charge of the first team on a temporary basis. There are also claims that former Siena coach Mario Beretta will be appointed as Giampaolo’s replacement.

To make matters worse, fans protested outside the team’s hotel where they have been locked in ritiro (training camp).

A number of ultras chased the team coach on its way back from Bologna, before the police intervened to escort the squad back into Siena. They then began to shout abuse towards the players, demanding Giampaolo to be sacked.
