Silva hopes PSG adapt to Emery swiftly

Thiago Silva knows Paris Saint-Germain need time to adapt to new coach Unai Emery’s tactics, but hopes they quickly reach full force.

Life under Emery began positively with a 4-1 Trophee des Champions victory over Lyon followed by six points from their first two Ligue 1 matches against Bastia and Metz.

However, a 3-1 defeat away at Monaco on August 28 preceded a 1-1 draw with Saint-Etienne, Robert Beric’s 92nd-minute strike earning Christophe Galtier’s team a point at the Parc des Princes.

PSG face another difficult test when they entertain Arsenal in their Champions League opener on Tuesday, and Silva admits the Ligue 1 champions are still in transition.

Asked when he thought PSG would be back at full strength, the centre-back told Le Parisien: “I do not know. As soon as possible, I hope.

“It’s difficult to change everything with different players from those he had at Sevilla.

“Changing quickly, it is not simple. Gradually, the changes will appear.

“I think we already have the aggressive face Emery wanted. I hope we will be strong as soon as possible.”
