Silva prefers experience over youth

PSG star Thiago Silva says that he prefers to play alongside Alex in defence rather than form a defensive partnership with Mamadou Sakho.

The 22-year-old Sakho, who came through the ranks of the PSG youth academy, is seen as one of the best young defenders around in Europe, and captained the Parisiens on his Ligue 1 debut at the age of 17.

However, he’s no longer an undisputed starter under head coach Carlo Ancelotti, and Silva would rather team up with Alex because of the former Chelsea man’s experience.

“Sakho and Alex are two players with a lot of quality,” Silva was quoted as saying by Le Parisien.

“The big difference between the two of them is that Alex is more experienced.

“I have to admit that even though I feel fine with either of the two next to me, I am more relaxed when I play alongside the more experienced guy, which is Alex.”

Thiago Silva joined PSG from AC Milan in the summer transfer window, and has since made three official appearances for the Champions League hopefuls.
