Atletico Madrid coach Diego Simeone dismissed the occasion of his 50th match in charge as he gears up to face Hapoel Tel Aviv FC.
The defending champions can seal their path to the Europa League round-of-32 with a home win over the Israelis in Group B on Thursday night.
The Spanish club comfortably defeated Hapoel 3-0 on matchday one in their only ever meeting and Simeone hopes his players are as focused as he is.
“I haven’t thought about my 50th match as manager to be honest – I read about it this morning in the paper,” he said.
“As I always say, we need to play well against Hapoel Tev Aviv to finish on top of the group. Apart from that, being at the club makes me very happy.
“Getting a result in Thursday’s game will give us a chance of being in the Europa League when the really important fixtures get under way in February.
“We managers are consumed by our upcoming match and as you can see from our defeats to Valencia and Academica, we weren’t happy. We have to focus on what’s important.
“As I said a while ago, in terms of the numbers and statistics each match leaves behind, there will eventually be an appropriate moment to sit down and analyse them.”
