Newcastle United defender Danny Simpson insists he will give his all for the club ahead of his departure in the summer.

Newcastle United defender Danny Simpson insists he will give his all for the club ahead of his departure in the summer.

The 26-year-old rejected the Magpies’ most recent contract offer and is set to leave St James’ Park on a free transfer at the end of the season.

However, the Englishman says his situation will not affect his ability to contribute as the Tyneside club look to pull themselves away from a potential relegation battle.

“It’s been a tough few months but I’ve got a good relationship with the manager. He knows my situation with the club,” Simpson said.

The former Manchester United trainee also revealed that the faith shown in him by boss Alan Pardew is key to his continued commitment.

“It was good to repay him by playing my part in getting a win,” Simpson added.

“I said to the manager whatever happens – injuries, suspension or whatever – he can rely on me if he does need me.”
