Slavia Prague have won the 2007-08 Czech championship, despite a 2-2 draw at FK Jablonec on the final day.

Slavia took the lead in two occasions, through Belaid and Pudil, but Jablonec levelled both times with goals from Zofcak and Krejci.

Thanks to a much better goal record, a Sparta victory at Slovan Liberec would be enough to take advantage of Slavia’s draw and take the championship.

But it wasn’t meant to be for Sparta as Slovan beat them 4-3 with goals from Smetana (2), Nezmar and Papousek.

Sparta’s goals were scored by Slepicka (2) and Holenda.

In the final classification, Slavia have a three-points advantage over their city rivals.

It is only the second time that Slavia win the championship since the forming of the Czech Republic, having done so before in 1996.
