Setanta Sports has reported that 24 year old, Dutch winger Wesley Sneijder has rubbished suggestions he is on his way to Manchester United as part of any deal to take Cristiano Ronaldo to Real Madrid.
Real are striving to secure the services of Portugal star Ronaldo, having reportedly gone as far as to set a date for his arrival.
It had been suggested in the English media that Real were readying an offer of £45 million plus Sneijder to tempt United into a sale.
This however seemed quite outlandish, considering that Sneijder was one of Real’s key performers last term. Moreover, he has insisted he has no intention of leaving the Bernabeu. “It is total nonsense,” Sneijder said on his personal website.
“When I left Ajax, Real Madrid was the only place I wanted to go. It is the biggest club in the world.” He added, “Now I am here, I want to win many titles and wear this shirt for as long as possible.” “In short, I am flattered by the interest of Manchester United, but it will not go any further.”
