Inter Milan midfielder Wesley Sneijder is preparing to leave the club in early January, according to his wife Yolanthe.

The Netherlands star has been frozen out of the Inter first-team after reportedly failing to agree terms on a new contract which would have resulted in a pay cut.

He was sent on early holiday leave for Christmas by the club, and is set to depart the San Siro in the coming weeks.

“We are about to leave Milan,” Sneijder’s wife told RTL Boulevard.

“Everything could be sorted out in the first few days of January. Our destination? We’re looking for an ideal place for our family. For the moment, I’m not thinking of my career.”

Inter are second in Serie A, seven points behind leaders Juventus ahead of their clash against Genoa on Saturday.
