Zvonimir Soldo resigned as Dynamo Zagreb coach immediately after the Croatian champions won the national cup on Wednesday to complete a double.

“As of this moment I'm not Dynamo coach any more,” Soldo told national television.

“I have informed the club's sports director Zoran Mamic about my decision and I do not want to elaborate on it any more.”

The 40-year-old took over as Dynamo Zagreb coach in January. Local media were for the past few days reporting that Soldo would be fired and that he was to be replaced by his predecessor Branko Ivankovic.

Media speculated that Mamic and his brother Zdravko Mamic, the club's vice-president, were not satisfied with Soldo's independent way of working as he was not allowing the club's officials to collaborate with him.
