A very late goal earned Peru a prestigious draw with Argentina, while Brazil failed to score at home versus Bolivia.

The Argentinians faced some tough opposition in Peru’s capital city Lima, but did finally break the deadlock through Esteban Cambiasso in the 82nd minute.

Instead of accepting defeat, Peru fought their way back to a draw as Fano netted the equaliser two minutes into extra time.

South American champions Brazil hosted Bolivia, who are known to do well at home but tend to convince less in away matches.

This time, the Bolivians held Brazil to a goalless draw despite playing most of the second half with ten men after a red card to Garcia in the 52nd minute.

Paraguay, who beat Venezuela on Friday, continue to lead in the South American qualifying group, and now have a comfortable four points lead over Brazil, Argentina and Chile.

Uruguay were held by Ecuador and consequently dropped from fourth to fifth place, with Chile now appearing in fourth position after a convincing 4-0 win over Colombia.
