Southampton agree Armstrong fee

Southampton have agreed a fee for Celtic’s Stuart Armstrong, according to Sky Sports.

There had been plenty of speculations surrounding Armstrong’s future last summer, but then he decided to put a stop to them by signing a new two-year deal with Celtic. Now, however, with only a year of it remaining, it seems the 26-year-old is set to move to the south coast of England in a deal that would cost the Saints over £6million.

The attacking midfielder played four and a half seasons at Dundee United before moving to Celtic in the winter of 2015. Since then he has made 142 appearances in all competitions for the Scottish champions and scored 27 goals along the way. He has also six international caps with Scotland.

At the moment, Southampton are in talks with the player himself about agreeing personal terms, and if that goes well Armstrong should be unveiled as a Saint player in the coming days.
