Rangers maintained their four-point lead over Celtic in the Scottish Premier League with a 2-0 win over Hibernian on Saturday.

A second-half brace from Nikica Jelavic, the first from the penalty spot, sealed all three points for visitors Rangers at Easter Road.

Celtic kept pace with the reigning champions thanks to a 1-0 win at home to Hearts.

Neil Lennon’s side led at Celtic Park through Victor Wanyama’s goal on 71 minutes.

They were fortunate to escape with all three points after Eggert Jonsson missed a 90th-minute penalty for Hearts.

In other matches, Dundee United came from two goals down to beat Inverness Caledonian Thistle 3-2.

Home side Inverness had led through goals from Jonathan Hayes and William McKay at Tulloch Caledonian Stadium.

But Johnny Russell’s brace and an own goal from Roman Golobart saw Dundee turn the match on its head.

Insult was added to injury for Inverness, as they finished with 10 men following the 83rd-minute dismissal of David Davis.

St Mirren also staged a comeback, as they fought back from 2-0 down to draw 2-2 at Aberdeen.

The home side appeared in control at Pittodrie thanks to early strikes from Scott Vernon and Rory Fallon.

But Kenny Mclean and Graham Carey were on target either side of half-time to ensure St Mirren took a point.

Motherwell ran out comfortable 3-0 winners in their match away to St Johnstone, thanks to a brace from Jamie Murphy, together with Omar Daley’s goal.

Finally, Dunfermline Athletic’s match at home to Kilmarnock was postponed due to fog.
