Sporting CP keen on Albin Ekdal

Portuguese daily newspaper O Jogo is reporting that Sporting CP are weighing up January bid for Hamburg midfielder Albin Ekdal.

The Lions have enjoyed a strong start to the new campaign and head coach Jorge Jesus wants to further reinforce the ranks in the winter.

According to O Jogo, Sporting CP are in the market for a quality central midfielder and they have set their sights on Albin Ekdal.

Jorge Jesus believes that the Sweden international would add a new quality to his squad and he is ready to make his move.

Albin Ekdal, 28, has a deal until June 2018 at Imtech Arena, and should be available for some €4 million in January.

The central midfielder has spent last two and a half years with Hamburg, making 42 Bundesliga appearances.
