Sporting Lisbon are keeping close tabs on Rio Ave defender Marvin Zeegelaar, according to A Bola.

The Lions currently have Jefferson and Jonathan Silva as their options at left-back, but it would appear as though coach Jorge Jesus aims to further reinforce this department.

A Bola has learned that the experienced coach is a big fan of Rio Ave defender Marvin Zeegelaar and that he could step up his interest in the winter transfer window.

This may come as a surprise to many considering that the 25-year-old is not exactly an undisputed member of the side at Vila do Conde, but the latest reports suggest he could be in line for a big club move.

Marvin Zeegelaar had come through the youth ranks at famous Ajax academy, but could only make four league appearances before leaving for Espanyol in the summer of 2011.

The full-back then went on to play for Elazigspor and Blackpool ahead of signing with Rio Ave last summer.
