A last-gasp goal from goalkeeper Rui Patricio earned Sporting Lisbon a 1-1 draw at FC Twente, allowing the Portuguese to advance to the fourth preliminary round of the Champions League.

Twente had held Sporting to a goalless draw last week and needed less than two minutes to score the opener at their own Arke Stadium. A Kenneth Perez corner was well met by Brazilian defender Douglas, whose headed left keeper Rui Patricio stranded.

The home side continued to dominate but never managed to add the second goal they craved.

Instead, several minutes into added time, it was Rui Patricio to head on goal from a corner and defender Peter Wisgerhof’s boot redirected it past keeper Mihaylov. The away goal was enough for the Portuguese to advance and leave their Dutch opponents devastated.
