Portuguese giants Sporting CP are readying January bid for Stuttgart defender Emiliano Insua, A Bola can reveal.

The Lions boss Jorge Jesus plans to recruit a new left-sided defender and he has made the Argentine full-back his number one target.

Even though he was at Benfica at the time, the experienced tactician was impressed with Insua’s showings at Estadio Jose Alvalade during the 2011/2012 and 2012/2013 seasons, and he is now determined to bring him back to the club.

The Lions were close to agreeing a loan deal for the Argentine in the summer, but the deal ultimately failed to materialise.

Emiliano Insua has done pretty well since joining Stuttgart from Atletico Madrid, going on to make 41 league appearances for the Swabians.

But with the club having been relegated from the Bundesliga last season, Insua would probably jump at the opportunity to join the Portuguese giants.
