Portuguese giants Sporting Lisbon are set to complete the signing of midfielder Danilo Pereira from Maritimo, O Jogo has learned.

The Lions are being linked with a host of high-profile footballers as they plan to seriously reinforce the squad after signing coach Jorge Jesus from arch rivals Benfica, and it appears the summer shopping will start in Portugal.

According to O Jogo, Sporting have agreed a €4 million deal to recruit Maritimo hotshot Danilo Pereira.

The 23-year-old is set to sign a five-year contract worth around €800,000 gross, subject to passing a medical in Lisbon.

Danilo Pereira has seen his stock rise a great deal since joining Maritimo from Roda Kerkrade two years ago, and he has been especially impressive this season.

The holding midfielder started 29 of 30 league matches, scoring three goals and missing one game through suspension.

Pereira has also broken into the national team set-up, earning his first Portugal cap in a 2-0 friendly defeat to Cape Verde.
