According to A Bola, Portuguese side Sporting CP are interested in signing Lucas Perez. The 29-year-old has been on the books with the Gunners since 2016, but he’s failed to make the necessary impression to warrant keeping his place in the squad. Whilst the forward hasn’t exactly been given a bucketload of chances, it seems incredibly unlikely that he’ll get much playing time in the coming season with Aubameyang & Lacazette being set to lead the way.
Sporting, on the other hand, are attempting to rebuild themselves – and Lucas Perez could be a big part of that. Whilst he didn’t exactly set the world on fire for Deportivo La Coruna during his loan spell last season, he showed flashes of brilliance that could indicate how useful he’d be over in Portugal.
Sporting wound up finishing third in Primeira Liga last season, three points behind Benfica in second and ten points off the pace of champions Porto.
