Sporting’s Slimani nears England move; Chile star on Marseille radar

hot-transfer-newsSporting’s Slimani nears England move

Portuguese daily newspaper A Bola is reporting that a host of English Premier League sides are showing interest in Sporting Lisbon striker Islam Slimani.

With Teo Gutierrez set to join the Lions from River Plate, the club officials are prepared to listen to offers for the Algerian forward.

According to the latest reports, the likes of Newcastle, West Bromwich, Leicester and Norwich are all keen on the 27-year-old footballer.

Islam Slimani appears ready to leave Sporting for greener pastures and English Premier League will probably be his next destination.

The Algeria star has done really well since joining the Lions two years ago, having bagged 20 goals in mere 26 league starts.

He has also fared pretty well for les Fennecs at the 2014 World Cup and 2015 Africa Cup of Nations, so nobody is surprised by the high demand in his services.

Chile star on Marseille radar

French giants Marseille appear to have joined the chase for Chile hotshot Eduardo Vargas, according to Le 10 Sport.

The talented forward returned to Napoli following a somewhat disappointing spell at QPR, but his impressive performances for La Roja at the 2015 Copa America earned him a lot of admirers.

As a result, the Azzurri aim to cash in on his services this summer and they have so far received offers from Qatar and an unnamed Spanish club.

However, Le 10 Sport understands that Marseille coach Marcelo Bielsa is also keen as he wants the experienced centre forward to battle Michy Batshuayi for a starting berth.

It was the Argentine tactician who handed Vargas his Chile debut back in 2010 and the striker went on to score 22 goals in 47 national team caps.

He was especially impressive at the Copa America tournament this summer, helping La Roja claim the elusive title with four goals in six appearances.

Farfan set for Schalke exit

Schalke star Jefferson Farfan looks set to leave the Miners in the summer transfer window, Bild can reveal.

The Veltins Arena outfit are set to complete a deal for Inter Milan midfielder Xherdan Shaqiri, and they plan to make way for the Switzerland hotshot by selling Jefferson Farfan.

After taking part at the 2015 Copa America with Peru, the 30-year-old is on vacation until 23 July, but it looks as though he will not be returning to Schalke.

Namely, Farfan has been offered a lucrative three-year deal worth staggering €10.7 million per campaign from Al Jazira, and he in turn informed the club chiefs that he wanted out.

And with the winger’s current contract due to expire in a year’s time, it is believed the two clubs will have no problems agreeing on the transfer fee.

Schalke start their Bundesliga campaign away to Werder in exactly one month and they can be backed at 6/4 to emerge victorious.
