Spurs close on Federico Fazio

Spanish daily newspaper Marca understands that Tottenham Hotspur are on the verge of recruiting Argentine defender Federico Fazio from Sevilla.

The 27-year-old has a €10 million release clause inserted in his contract and the latest reports suggest his agents have recently ended talks over a new deal.

Premier League side Tottenham are reportedly set to match the player’s buy-out clause and lure him to White Hart Lane before the summer transfer window is over.

Fazio has asked permission from the club to fly to London even before the Spurs officially submitted a proposal, but everything suggests the deal will be wrapped up by the end of the week.

After establishing himself as one of league’s top centre-backs, the Argentine was heavily linked with a move to Barcelona, but the Catalans ultimately decided to pursue other targets.

However, he should eventually earn a big club switch as Tottenham appear extremely interested in his services.
