Spurs join Manchester United in race for Pickford

Tottenham Hotspur are set to join the race to sign Sunderland goalkeeper Jordan Pickford, according to the Daily Star.

Manchester United have also been linked with a move for the highly rated shot-stopper, who is currently out on loan with Championship side Preston North End.

Pickford is yet to appear for the Black Cats, gaining all of his game time so far in temporary spells with no less than six clubs.

He first spent time with non-league outfits Darlington and Alfreton Town before having spells with Burton Albion, Carlisle United and Bradford City while he moved to Deepdale in the summer.

Internationally, he has represented England at every level from U16s to U21s, making three caps for the latter – his debut coming last month.

Sam Allardyce’s first match in charge of Sunderland is at West Bromwich Albion on Saturday afternoon, and the away win can be backed at a price of 3/1.
