Spurs keen on a move for Dutch keeper

Tottenham are keen to make a move for Roma Goalkeeper Maarten Stekelenburg, that’s according to the Daily Mail.

Spurs seem to be keen on signing a new goal-keeper as Brad Friedel enters his 42nd year and a move for Lyon’s number one Hugo Lloris seems to have fallen through.

Now they a turning their attention to the Dutchman, who the Serie A side apparently value at £8 million.

It seems as this could be the stumbling block in the move and Andre Villas Boas may not be prepared to pay that much.

However, Stekelenburg only joined from Ajax for £5 million last summer, so the ball is certainly in Roma’s court.

It seems clear that he wants to move though and would relish playing in the English Premier League. He found it hard to settle in Italy due to the departure of the manager that brought him to the club.

The 29-year-old was involved in Holland’s poor campaign at the European Championships and will want a good season at club level to bounce back from this.

At his age, it could be the best years as a goal-keeper so first team football is a must.

Spurs are set to be busy in the transfer market and this could be one of many signings.
