Tottenham are set to sign two Dinamo Zagreb teenagers for 17 million pounds, one of whom is considered the Croatian Lionel Messi.
Attacking midfielder Alen Halilovic and central defender Tin Jedvaj are reportedly set to move to Tottenham instead of the club’s London rivals Chelsea and Arsenal with The Sun having claimed Spurs have tabled a 17-million-pound deal for the pair of 17-year-olds.
Dinamo’s president Mirko Barisic has reportedly told Croatian media that the deal has been completed.
Halilovic, who has been compared to both Messi and former Tottenham midfielder Luka Modric, debuted for Dinamo last season and represented Croatia at the UEFA Under-17 Championships in May.
But Dinamo sporting director Zoran Mamic has claimed Halilovic, who played 21 games for the Croatian club last season – including three in the UEFA Champions League – could be even better than Modric.
“A lot of people have compared him to Luka Modric but he’s better than Luka was at this age,” Mamic told the Daily Mirror.
“Everyone at the club thinks he has even more potential and that he will become one of the best players in the world.”
When Halilovic started against Paris Saint-Germain in the Champions League in October he became the second youngest player to take the field in the continental competition.
Jedvaj has also been targeted by Roma and played 13 matches for Dinamo last season.
