Cacau has spoken of his disappointment at being one of four players cut from Germany’s squad for Euro 2012.

The Brazil-born striker had only played 12 minutes of action in Germany’s 5-3 friendly reverse to Switzerland on Monday, before being omitted from the provisional list along with Marc-Andre ter Stegen, Julian Draxler and Sven Bender.

Speaking to the official website of his club side Stuttgart, Cacau – who has 23 Germany caps to his name – described the moment when he was told the bad news by coach Joachim Low, but is determined not to let the unfortunate situation faze him.

“The coach asked me into his office, but I had already guessed what he was going to say,” he said.

“Of course, it is big disappointment and it takes a little time to process it all.

“I think in the next few days everything will return to normal and then I can enjoy spending time with my family in Brazil.”

Germany kick off their Euro 2012 campaign against Portugal on June 9.
