Stade de Reims are deep in discussions over signing Liverpool’s Sheyi Ojo on loan, Liverpool Echo journalist James Pearce claims.
Ojo had an impressive pre-season and he was keen on fighting for a spot in the Liverpool squad this season, but with the arrival of Xherdan Shaqiri from Stoke City to boost the attacking options of manager Jurgen Klopp it became obvious the youngster wouldn’t be getting as much time on the pitch as he’d have hoped for. During his career so far, the 21-year-old played a total of 13 games and scored only once for the Reds. He’s had loan spells before, namely with Wigan Athletic, Wolverhampton Wanderers and Fulham. His progress has occasionally been hampered by injuries.
Aston Villa and West Bromwich Albion both held interest in Ojo. However, the young winger is now set to work on further development in France, with a club that earned promotion back to Ligue 1 this summer and is reportedly looking for attacking reinforcements.
