Stefanutto eager for redemption

Brisbane Roar full-back Shane Stefanutto says he and his team-mates are looking forward to redeeming themselves against Melbourne Heart.

Brisbane went down 4-1 to the Heart on November 9, but the confidence that comes with back-to-back victories will count in favour of the Roar this time around, according to Stefanutto.

“It was probably one of our worst performances of the season,” Stefanutto told reporters after training on Friday morning.

“They’re a dangerous team if you let them get on a roll like that, so we’ve got to be on our game, that’s for sure.

“Obviously at the time it did sting. It was disappointing to concede that many goals, it was disappointing the way we played that day.

“We’ve got a chance now to redeem ourselves and we’re looking forward to the game.”

Stefanutto described the atmosphere around the squad as buoyant after wins against Adelaide United and Wellington Phoenix in the past two rounds, a factor which he said would stand the side in good stead for the Heart clash.

“It’s nice. The boys are chatty. Not as sore after the games, everything’s beautiful,” Stefanutto said.

“We’ve let ourselves down with our consistency over this season and we know that.

“We did enough to win again and that was what we had to do. That was the main thing, so true credit to the boys for that.

“We’re human and when we do well and we win we have confidence. It’s the way it always is.

“Now after two wins we’re up a bit, we’re bouncing around, so that’s always good.”
