Stoke in surprising link to Shaqiri

Stoke City are ready to make a shock bid for Liverpool target Xherdan Shaqiri, according to the Metro.

The 23 year old looks set to leave Bundesliga champions Bayern Munich, if not this month then at the end of the season, with Liverpool prepared to wait until the summer which would allow him to move to Inter Milan for the remainder of this campaign.

However, somewhat surprisingly the Potters have thrown their hat into the ring, and hope that they can use form Barcelona man Bojan Krkic to help lure the Swiss international to the Britannia Stadium.

Shaqiri has started just three times in the league under Pep Guardiola so far this season, scoring his only goal of the campaign in a 4-0 win at Eintracht Frankfurt back in November.

He has fifteen goals in forty-one appearances for his country, and bagged a hat-trick in a 3-0 win over Honduras at last summer’s World Cup finals in Brazil.
