Celtic boss Neil Lennon praised Anthony Stokes’ form after the Irishman hit a double in the win over Inverness.

The Glasgow giants came out as 2-0 winners after a frustrating opening 30 minutes at the Caledonian Stadium.

The match was tightly balanced at 0-0 until Greg Tansey was dismissed for the hosts and Lennon’s side went on to score twice, both from Stokes.

The Celtic manager was delighted with the striker’s form this season, telling reporters: “He is playing very well and what pleases me more is his all-round game is improving.”

“He has been a huge player in the last couple of months. He keeps going and on another day he could have had a hat-trick.”

“It is never easy here but I was happy with their attitude.”

The 40-year-old was also pleased to see Celtic’s supporters responding positively to his calls to behave on their trip north.

He added: “They were magnificent and I can’t speak highly enough of them. They gave the team great backing.”
