Inter Milan head coach Andrea Stramaccioni says his team have shown what they are capable of by beating AC Milan and Juventus this season.

Inter have enjoyed a solid 2012/13 campaign to date, with the mid-season break due to end this weekend.

Stramaccioni’s side sit fourth in Serie A on 35 points, level with third-placed Fiorentina, two points behind second-placed Lazio and chasing leaders Juventus, who are ahead by eight points.

Milan beat Juve 3-1 to end the champions’ 49-game unbeaten run in the Italian top flight.

They also conquered arch-rivals Milan in October, winning 1-0, and Stramaccioni highlighted those games as key examples of his squad’s potential.

“I look back on the last derby win. That win, and the one against Juventus show we have qualities beyond the technical and tactical,” he told the Inter Channel.

“(Yuto) Nagatomo got sent off, and the game could have changed at that point, but we pulled out something extra that cannot really be explained.

“We were driven by the fans that day.”
