Andrea Stramaccioni said Inter have not been affected by their surprise 3-2 defeat to Atalanta last weekend.

The Italian giants lost ground to league leaders Juventus with the loss, their first defeat in 11 matches in all competitions.

But Stramaccioni is confident his side can bounce back, imploring them to respond in Sunday’s match against Cagliari.

“My team wasn’t affected by the defeat, our mentality and morale haven’t changed, quite the opposite. I hope that the fact we didn’t gain points in Bergamo (Atalanta’s stadium) will be a further drive tomorrow,” he said.

“We don’t need a huge change after the defeat against Atalanta, because we all had the same impression: we were punished by some poor mistakes.

“We played our game in Bergamo and even if we recognize Atalanta’s merits, we didn’t deserve to lose.

“It was another away match in which we showed personality. That said, we need to start gaining points again.

“It will be a key match for us, we need to start gaining points straight away.”
