Inter Milan coach Andrea Stramaccioni says he is open to the possibility of reinstating Wesley Sneijder to the first team.

The Netherlands international has been frozen out of the Inter squad following a contractual dispute with the club, and he is largely expected to leave Inter in the January transfer window, or at the end of the season.

However, Stramaccioni has left the door open for Sneijder to return to the first team.

“Sneijder? I’m sure I will change my mind about him. The shirt is ready for him,” the coach told Sportmediaset.

Stramaccioni then went on to reflect on his meteoric rise in 2012, during which he progressed from youth team coach to succeeding the sacked Claudio Ranieri.

“2012 changed my life,” he said.

“It was a great year. For 2013 I want to give (President Massimo) Moratti a gift.

“I think the year’s been a seven on the scale of 1 to 10. We’ve done well overall, and we are challenging for trophies. We can give birth to a major project.”

Inter sit fourth in Serie A, nine points behind table-toppers and title holders Juventus.
