Inter Milan coach Andrea Stramaccioni believes earning a victory at Genoa on Saturday is crucial to his weakened side’s prospects.
A win in the match at San Siro would see Inter move second in Serie A, but Stramaccioni is concerned about a lack of depth, with several players on the sidelines.
“It’s a game that has a fundamental importance. I want to see a great Inter, because with a win comes second place at (the) half-way (point of the season),” he told Sport Media Set.
“There are some injured (players) too, the latest (Yuto) Nagatomo and (Luca) Castellazzi, nor (is Esteban) Cambiasso fine.
“If the disqualification of (Fredy) Guarin were to be confirmed, then we’re really (low on) numbers,” Stramaccioni added, referring to Guarin’s one-match suspension for aggressive behaviour toward a referee, a sanction the club have appealed.
Inter, who sit second on the Serie A table, defeated Chievo 2-0 in the Coppa Italia on Tuesday.
