While describing Diego Simeone as the best coach he has ever had, Mario Suarez revealed there were things he did not like about the Atletico Madrid boss.
Suarez – on loan at LaLiga outfit Valencia from Watford – spent five years at Atletico, four of those under the guidance of Argentine coach Simeone.
During his time with Simeone, Suarez won LaLiga, the Europa League, UEFA Super Cup and Copa del Rey among other trophies, but the Spanish midfielder lifted the lid on the pair’s mixed relationship.
“There were a few things about El Cholo [Simeone] which I didn’t like, but then I’m sure there were things he didn’t like about me,” Suarez told Cadena COPE.
“I have always said that he is the best coach I have ever had; I learned a lot from him and all of my memories are good ones.
“When I signed for Valencia Simeone sent me a message to congratulate me and so everything’s fine.”
Suarez scored twice on Sunday as Valencia overcame Sporting Gijon 2-1 in LaLiga action.
