The odds was been cut very recently on Sunderland’s Gus Poyet to be the next manager to leave with the side in grave danger of relegation. The Black Cats are rock bottom of the league with 25 points from 33 games. Being winless in the last eight games has seen the North-East outfit drop from 14th in the table in February.

Betfair are making Poyet odds-on favourite to be the next manager to leave his post, with rumours of an impending resignation or sacking hanging over the club.

Sunderland are seven points adrift of safety with six games to play. But unless they can arrest the slide and pick up some form, they could well find their future sealed in a matter of weeks.

Manchester City (away) and Chelsea (away) are their next two Premier League games to come, while they also will come up against Manchester United in a few weeks. It’s a run-in that doesn’t fill many full of confidence that Sunderland can haul their way out of danger.
