Premier League club Swansea are set to seal the signing of Ivorian striker Wilfried Bony, the player’s agent said.

Bony, 24, is a man in demand after an excellent season with Eredivisie outfit Vitesse Arnhem in which he scored 37 goals in 36 appearances in all competitions.

The former Sparta Prague forward is on the verge of signing for Swansea, who want another attacking option to partner Spanish forward Michu.

Bony fits the bill and the Welsh club are reported to have bid £10.2 million for the player, with his agent, Francis Kacou, confirming to Dutch newspaper De Gelderlander that an official move is not far away.

“Bony will go to Swansea,” Kacou said.

“For how many years? We still have to work out that part. Hopefully more will be clear today.”

The move will see Swansea almost double their highest transfer fee paid, with Spaniard Pablo Hernandez – who cost the club £5.55 million from Valencia last year – the subject of the existing club record.
