Morocco coach Rachid Taoussi lamented his side’s mistakes after their 1-1 draw with the Cape Verde Islands at the Africa Cup of Nations.

Youssef El-Arabi cancelled out Platini’s opener as Morocco avoided being on the wrong end of a huge upset at the tournament in South Africa.

Wednesday’s draw sees Morocco sitting third in Group A behind the host nation and Cape Verde with one group game remaining.

Taoussi said mistakes were costly and his substitutes were unable to have the impact he desired in Durban.

“There were a lot of personal mistakes between players. It also took a bit of time for our players to find familiarity with each other, especially in the first few minutes,” Taoussi said.

“And then also the substitutions made things difficult, but in the first half we also tried hard, but unfortunately it didn’t work.

“We’ll try to do better next time.”

Morocco meet South Africa in their final group match on Sunday as they look to reach the quarter-finals.
