Milan assistant coach Mauro Tassotti says Milan must not rest on their laurels as they look to secure a UEFA Champions League place.
They defeated already-relegated Pescara 4-0 on Wednesday as Mario Balotelli continued his excellent form with two goals, with Sulley Muntari and Mathieu Flamini also getting their name on the scoresheet.
The result leaves them in third place, four points clear of Fiorentina.
“We did our job, we had to win tonight,” Tassotti said.
“Now we will wait and see what happens, we still have two games left to play, we’re not sure of third place yet, we need to gain other points.
“We opened the game well straight away with a first goal and then it became quite easy. It was important to start well and we managed it.
“There were a lot of people and a lot of our supporters at the stadium, but this is always the case. We put in a good performance.
Milan chief executive Adriano Galliani has been delighted with the club’s performances in the second half of the season but urged the side not to lose focus in the battle for third position.
“We have been extraordinary in the second half of the season,” Galliani said.
“We have not secured third place yet, though. We can see the finish line, but we need at least one more victory.
“We hope to have the support of a big crowd on Sunday (against Roma).”
