PanamaÂ’s Tauro defeated Major League SoccerÂ’s Chivas USA 2-0 Tuesday night in the first leg of a CONCACAF Champions League preliminary-round series.
Edwin Aguilar scored in each half for El Tauro.
The second leg of the home-and-home, total-goals series will be played next Tuesday at Carson, Calif.
Eight preliminary round winners will advance to the group stage of the tournament, which replaces the CONCACAF Champions Cup. MLSÂ’s Houston and D.C. United received automatic berths in the group stage, which opens Sept. 16.
