Shakhtar Donetsk coach Mircea Lucescu does not want to stand in the way of Alex Teixeira from joining a bigger league but has priced the Brazilian at €50million.

Liverpool have reportedly had two bids for Teixeira rejected in the January transfer window as Jurgen Klopp seeks to bolster his squad.

The Brazilian himself recently confirmed he wanted to leave Shakhtar, but the club’s hefty price tag means potential suitors are being forced away.

“He’s worth €50m,” Lucescu told FourFourTwo. “He’s incredible, very fast, very good technique.

“I compare him with other players of the same age who changed [the fortunes of] a club, [Angel] Di Maria for example at Paris Saint-Germain.

“Teixeira can be at the same level, better even. He doesn’t get injured, and every year he gets better and better.”

However, Lucescu revealed it is up to the president to decide when Teixeira departs the Ukrainian outfit.

“Our president knows when it is the time for Teixeira to go,” the Romanian explained.

“I don’t want to keep a player against his desire. He wants to play in a big championship.”
