Borussia Monchengladbach goalkeeper Marc-Andre ter Stegen will not join Barcelona, according to the German club’s sporting director.

The reigning La Liga champions are thought to be in the market for a new keeper, with Victor Valdes set to leave the club when his current deal expires in 2014.

The 21-year-old Ter Stegen is one of a host of names to be linked with Tito Vilanova’s side but Max Eberl moved to squash speculation of an exit.

“He will play for Gladbach next season,” he told Kicker.

“Marc has declared that himself, and his agent did so as well. It doesn’t get more clear than that.

“I am very annoyed by these ongoing speculations.

“Ter Stegen is one of the most talented goalkeepers on the continent, so of course big clubs are interested in signing him.”
