Tevez earns Vialli praise

Carlos Tevez has won the praise of former Juventus striker Gianluca Vialli following his display in the 1-1 draw against Copenhagen.

While the Serie A club may have failed to fire on all cylinders in Tuesday’s UEFA Champions League group stage opener, Tevez put in a typically lively performance.

The former Argentina international has made a promising start to his Juve career, scoring twice in three league outings.

And Vialli, who won the Champions League with the club in 1996, was pleased with what he saw against the Danish outfit.

“I really liked Tevez,” the former Chelsea manager told Sky Sport Italia. “His performance was positive even if he didn’t manage to score.

“He moved around a lot, he created some dangerous moments, but he – like the rest of the side – was just unfortunate.”

The visitors fell behind to Nicolai Jorgensen’s first-half strike and despite dominating much of the rest of the game, they could only salvage a point, courtesy of Fabio Quagliarella’s leveller.

“It’s a shame about the result,” Vialli added.

“A convincing opening game victory would have been an ideal start to a Champions League campaign.”
