Thai Premier League 2009 and 2010 champions Muang Thong United aim to win all possible trophies in their preparations ahead of the new season.
The club’s goals were revealed by general manager Ronnarit Suewaja shortly after introducing newly-signed former Partizan Belgrade coach Slavisa Jokanovic.
“We have at least 150 million baht (3.7 million pounds) to strengthen the squad after we were third in the league and second in the FA Cup last season,” Ronnarit told the Bangkok Post.
The Nonthaburi-based club’s financial power has increased after a 30 per-cent stake was purchased by the largest cement company in Thailand, Siam Cement Group (SGC) in order to realise their targets.
United signed several new players to strengthen their squad ahead of 2012 season, including Netherlands’ Adnan Barakat and Macedonia international Mario Djurovski.
Their new coach is optimistic that he will bring glory for the Twin Qilins under his reign.
“I will try very hard to bring success to the club. I believe we can be champions again in the new season,” Jokanovic said.
Last season, Muang Thong performed below expectations, finishing in third place in the final standings and failing to win any silverware throughout the season.
