The latest English Premier League transfer rumours

With the transfer window currently open, transfer rumours and speculation are everywhere.

Let’s get right to the juicy details.

Arsenal

We kick off this segment with Arsenal, who are reportedly eyeing Sao Paulo midfielder Lucas.

According to The Times, Inter Milan and FC Barcelona are also keen on the Brazilian.

Lucas is a highly-rated teenager with blistering pace, technical prowess and cheeky creativity.

His £20 million price-tag will surely prove to be a bargain in a few years.

Liverpool

In the most interesting rumour of all, Liverpool are reportedly set to make a £10 million move for Tottenham Hotspur striker Jermain Defoe.

Now then, Andy Carroll may not be on scintillating form, but Dirk Kuyt and Craig Bellamy are surely more capable than Defoe at the moment.

Why on earth would Kenny Dalglish be looking to sign Jermain Defoe?

I’m stumped.

Queens Park Rangers

According to Eat Sleep Sport, Everton boss David Moyes had rubbished reports that Tim Cahill is set to join QPR.

Previous speculation has suggested that Cahill is highly coveted by the club’s new boss Mark Hughes.

The former Manchester City manager is also reportedly keen on 20-year-old Sao Paulo striker Henrique, who is a Brazil U-20 international.

By the looks of it, Hughes is looking for a striker to bolster QPR’s attack, and rightfully so.

The Super Hoops have scored just 19 goals in 21 Premier League games. Only Wigan Athletic, who have bagged 18 goals, have a worse goal-scoring record.

Keep in mind that Queens Park Rangers have already landed Manchester United striker Federico Macheda on loan for the rest of the season.

In addition, Mark Hughes is also said to be pursuing a move for Blackburn Rovers center-back Chris Samba, who would in all honestly be a fantastic addition for QPR.

Tottenham Hotspur

According to The Sun, Spurs are lining up a £15 million bid for Marseille striker Loic Remy.

This news came shortly after Harry Redknapp was spotted at Marseille’s game versus Lille OSC on the 15th of January.

Just for good measure, Remy bagged two goals in the game.

After his man of the match performance, Remy told Canal+,”I’m staying.”

“I will 100% stay at Marseille until the end of the season and even the end of my contract.

“I have spoken with the president and the staff. And it would not be right for me to leave this club. We’ll see next summer but that’s not even in my head for now.”

Spurs could have used another striker, but Adebayor will do just fine until the end of the season.

That’s all for today. I’ll be back tomorrow as usual. Until then, good day.

Think you need to cool off a bit pal. Although you are generally right, there’s no point in stressing yourself into a heart attack over it!

WHY WHY WHY WHY does EVERYONE in the world of soccer always talk about the Manager making all the transfer decisions?

over and over again I hear this ridiculous myth perpetrated by pundits, announcers, and fans alike. take Kenny Dalglish as a prime example. how many times do we here about Kenny’s terrible decisions with Caroll and Downing and Henderson?

but the simple FACT is, Kenny is FAR less responsible for these decisions than the new owner John W. Henry and his “Director of Football” Damien Comolli, who are the ones responsible for bringing the Moneyball system to the club.

probably the only 2 clubs in English football where you can really attribute transfer decisions to the Manager are Arsenal and Man U. for the rest of the clubs in England and around the world the manager generally has to bow to the decisions of ownership and various managers within the club.

PLEASE stop propagating this ABSURD idea that managers like Dalglish are in full control of transfers at their club.

besides, the true picture is far more interesting.
