Thiago Silva denies transfer rumours; Chelsea keen on Oscar

Brazil defender Thiago Silva has denied reports suggesting that he was willing to quit the San Siro in favour of the Parc des Princes earlier this summer, according to Sky Sports.

Amidst the transfer speculation linking Silva with a move to Paris Saint-Germain, the 27-year-old has inked a new five-year contract with the Serie A giants.

In fact, the Rossoneri turned down PSG’s whopping  £36 million for the Brazil international before offering the former Fluminense star a new deal.

“I never thought of leaving Milan,” Silva told the club’s official website. “But in football it is normal that you get offers from other clubs.

“I am very close to (Zlatan) Ibrahimovic, (Antonio) Cassano, Robinho, (Alexandre) Pato and (Mario) Yepes and they advised me to remain at Milan. I believe in Milan’s strength for the new season.

“I want to end this season in the best possible way at the Olympics in London and then return immediately for another season at Milan.”

As stated by Thiago Silva himself, the talented centre-back is eyeing the golf medal at London 2012 with Brazil.

The Samba Kings have been grouped with Belarus, Egypt and New Zealand, and are scheduled to kick-off their London 2012 campaign against The Pharaohs on 26 July at the Millennium Stadium in Cardiff, Wales.

Chelsea eye Brazil international Oscar

European Cup champions Chelsea are at it again, attempting to beat out Tottenham Hotspur in the race for Brazilian starlet Oscar, Sky Sports reports.

According to Oscar’s agent Carlos Meinberg Neto, Chelsea have made a formal bid for his client.

“Chelsea did offer 25 million euros, but there is still no agreement between the clubs, that will probably happen within the next days,” Neto told Terra.

“Giuliano Bertolucci (Oscar’s main agent) will travel to England to finalise the remaining details.

“Tottenham also made an offer, but he should accept Chelsea’s offer as there is more exposure there”.

Oscar will represent Brazil at the 2012 Olympics in London this summer.

The Brazilian is just the latest player linked with a move to Chelsea this summer, with Marko Marin and Eden Hazard having already sealed their respective moves to Stamford Bridge.

Now then, it’s not the first time Chelsea have beaten out Spurs for the grand prize.

You may recall last season’s UEFA Champions League final in Munich. Chelsea defeated Bavarian giants Bayern Munich at their home stadium, ousting Spurs from Champions League football in 2012-13.

Not only did Chelsea’s triumph cost Spurs umpteen millions, it pretty much cost Harry Redknapp his job.
