Thiago Silva open to Barcelona switch

Paris Saint-Germain defender and club captain Thiago Silva could be in line for a shock summer move to Camp Nou, El Mundo Deportivo have learned.

According to the Spanish media outlet, the 31-year-old Brazilian has already given a nod to the Catalan giants who have attempted to land the PSG defender twice so far. Thiago Silva could have joined Barcelona from AC Milan, but he opted for a more lucrative offer from the Paris giants at the time.

Paris Saint-Germain are facing an exodus of players this summer with Zlatan Ibrahimovic leading the line of first-team stars and Thiago Silva is believed to be among them.

The Brazilian is eager to make a move for the club who remains a real contender to win the Champions League in the future and Barcelona are a side he would stand a better chance of lifting the coveted trophy with.

Thiago Silva’s contract expires in 2018 and Paris Saint-Germain are eager to keep him even though Silva’s heart may have been lying elsewhere after four years of trophyless European efforts in Paris.

Barcelona are looking to bolster their ranks in the summer with a number of defenders, such as Villarreal’s Eric Bailly, in sight.
