AC Milan striker Alexandre Pato has been ruled out of his side’s Serie A clash with champions Juventus on Sunday.
The San Siro side have underperformed this season to be in 12th spot through 13 games, some 17 points behind leaders Juve ahead of their clash in Milan.
And the news gets worse for Milan coach Massimiliano Allegri, with Pato a confirmed absentee from Juve’s visit due to a thigh injury.
The oft-injured Brazil international picked up the knock in Milan’s 3-1 UEFA Champions League win over Anderlecht and underwent further examination on Thursday.
Although Pato’s injury is less serious than Milan initially feared, he will not pull up fit in time for the weekend’s clutch match.
