The Newcastle Jets have released Nikolai Topor-Stanley, with the veteran defender set to join a rival A-League team.
Topor-Stanley already has an offer on the table from another side in the A-League and Jets CEO Robbie Middleby said it was in the best interests of the club to grant the 27-year-old a release.
“He is a good footballer and this is a wonderful opportunity for Nikolai to continue his career at another club,” Middleby said.
“This opportunity gives him longevity in the game and as a club we couldn’t stand in his way.
“We would like to thank Nikolai for his contribution to the Jets and wish him well in the future.”
An announcement on Topor-Stanley’s new club is expected in the coming days, with Melbourne Victory and the Western Sydney franchise among the frontrunners for his signature.
