Torres wants Liverpool to sign Villa

Liverpool striker Fernando Torres has urged the club to sign Valencia striker David Villa.

Liverpool boss Rafa Benitez is reportedly keen on signing a new striker but a loan move for Sunderland star Kenwyne Jones has been turned down by Sunderland.

But Torres, who is set to be out of action for six weeks due to a knee surgery, wants his boss to make a move for his Spain international team-mate Villa instead.

“If I could, I would take David Villa or David Silva to Liverpool as a partner in attack,” Torres said. “I wish they could come. It would be a great asset for our team.

“We need match-winners like Rooney or Tévez. We need footballers who break the deadlock in matches. Liverpool is losing the Premier League in home games against average teams.”

    back to the topic.

Villa would be a good buy for l’pool, but the reds are just in too much of a shamble to get as much as they would like out of him. . . and besides, he would most likely need to get help from Torres and Gerrard, and as they are injured, that wouldn’t happen for a good while.
